LABRADOR 5139 GIRL

Description

Origin:

The Labrador Retriever originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where early ancestors known as St. John’s Water Dogs assisted fishermen by retrieving nets and fish from icy waters. The breed was later refined in England during the 19th century into the Labrador Retriever we know today. Labradors have become one of the most popular dog breeds worldwide due to their intelligence, versatility, and friendly temperament. They excel as family companions, hunting dogs, service animals, therapy dogs, and search-and-rescue dogs.

Exercise Needs:

Labrador Retrievers are an active, energetic breed that requires daily exercise and mental stimulation. They enjoy long walks, running, swimming, fetch, hiking, and interactive games. Regular physical activity helps prevent boredom and supports a healthy weight. Labs also excel in obedience training, agility, retrieving sports, and other canine activities.

Grooming:

Their short, dense double coat is relatively easy to maintain but sheds throughout the year, with heavier seasonal shedding. Weekly brushing helps remove loose hair and maintain coat health. Routine nail trimming, ear cleaning, dental care, and occasional baths are recommended to keep your Labrador healthy and comfortable.

Health:

Common health concerns may include hip and elbow dysplasia, obesity, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), exercise-induced collapse (EIC), ear infections, and certain heart conditions. Regular veterinary checkups, a balanced diet, routine exercise, and preventive care can help support a long, healthy life.

They generally get along very well with other dogs and household pets when properly socialized.
